What Attracted You To The Field of Nursing?
Work At Home Opportunities

Last First Name: Kirkland Susanne
License degrees: RNC, ADN Certified Psych-Mental Health Nurse through ANCC CCJS Certified Criminal Justice Specialist through the Natl Assn. of Forensic Counselors with an endorsement as a Master Addiction Counselor MHP Mental Health Professional - a designate by the State of Georgia Dept. of Human Resources
E-mail Address: wgsmkirk@stc.net
City: Dahlonega
State: Georgia.
What kind of nursing do you do: Psych, Addiction therapy

Website: not familiar with many...
Marital Status: married
Nationality: Irish, German Grits GIRL RAISED IN THE SOUTH
How many years have you been practicing as a nurse: 18
Professional organizations you belong to:
Would you recommend the field: Personally I feel nursing is a ministry...if you aint called to it...PLEASE DONT go into it
Employment changes in career: 8
Reason for the change: mostly advancement.
If you lost your job tomorrow how easily do you feel you find new employment: Probably before sun went down or at least by the time it came back up the next morning

In how many years would you like to retire: If I could retire yesterday I would AND THEN work PRN...And I would work...cause it is a ministry to me. In fact if I could afford it Id probably work free in a clinic doing addiction counseling I didn't start this nursing gig until I was 37 so as you can see after these 18 years Id like to retire...but I like to be covered by hospitalization and be able to eat now and then too -
Have you started any type of retirement fund: Oh yes late like after I ended my first marriage after 25 years I now put a large chunk into deferred compensation each month AND in four months please LORD I'll be vested in state retirement after 10 years with this agency I could then retire in two more years with insurance...but hardly anything left with which to buy food

Would this travel : I could roll over the deferred comp into a 401K I THINK...or leave it in there compounding after I'm vested.
Do you feel having certified Patient Educational Materials on the WWW would be beneficial: Yes and I think the availability of CEUs on the WWW would be great...is there that possibility already Advise is so please
Nursing School you attend if applicable: Walters State Community College Morristown TN Associate Degree in Nursing
Where do you work: Addiction recovery center...Outpatient Services Nurse.
Do you carry a personal malpractice insurance policy why or why not: Not now...have in the past. The state covers it for us.

Your most pressing concerns with the profession and healthcare: For my particular agency its the lack of monies with which to treat our population. And the horrible amount of paperwork that is done for naught...time I could be spending with patients.
What attracted you to the field of Nursing: I felt it was my calling from God to minister in His name.
Favorite TV show and musical artists: Dateline 48 Hours 2020 Country music artists...I told you I was a G.R.I.T.S.
Favorite food: Probably the breast of chicken fried sliced diced baked curried or grilled and pecan praline non-fat ice cream.

Personal or favorite Quote: ...a BSN and 75 cents would buy me a cup of coffee...and I don't drink coffee. referring to my going back and getting a BSN at my age.
Qualities you admire in your friends & loved ones: commitment kindness compassion love joy humor and the ability to reach out and touch another person.
Pet Peeves: people who are jealous and those who are moody those who cant let it go and all others not on Prozac or other SSRI
Major turn-offs: bratty kids red-necks who don't take their hats off inside tattoos morbidly obese nurses in too tight and unkempt uniforms illegible progress notes from medical personnel. And those notes that have about as much documentation as a chicken has teeth or how bout this...you go back to pull a chart note and there is a date with only the month and date i.e. 917...BUT NO YEAR

Hobbies and activities you enjoy outside of work: What Activities outside of work...I don't understand. You see in Psych nursing it is difficult to tell the patients from the staff...we don't wear uniforms the only way you can tell the difference is that the patients sometimes get better What are activities outside of work Seriously I'm a clergyman's wife and I have six grandchildren 5 great ones and one bratty one I'm not too fond of the bratty one So that's what I do in my spare time.
Pets favorite vacation spots: Three rotten bratty pups mama daddy and their baby...ShizPoos. Anyplace on the Gulf of Mexico...for about a week...then I have to get back to my mountains. Central America is cool too
Other areas of interest and expertise: I'm a wedding director and coordinator
