Cialis.com:"Introducing CIALIS, the first tablet for erectile dysfunction (ED) that gives you up to 36 hours to choose the moment that's right for you and your partner. CIALIS works fast - within 30 minutes in some patients - and can work up to 36 hours. That means you and your partner can be spontaneous, responding to each other sexually when the moment is right. Of course your results may vary so talk to your doctor today to see if CIALIS is right for you. In clinical trials, CIALIS was shown to improve the ability of men with ED to have a single successful intercourse attempt as long as 36 hours after dosing. CIALIS has not been studied for multiple sexual attempts per dose."

On-demand IC351 (Cialis) enhances erectile function in patients with erectile dysfunction, Biopsychiatry.com:"IC351 (tadalafil, trade name Cialis) is a new representative compound of the second generation of selective phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE-5) inhibitors. The selectivity ratio vs PDE-5 is more than 10 000 for PDE-1 through PDE-4 and PDE-7 through PDE-10 and 780 for PDE-6. In the European daily-dosing trial, the efficacy rates were up to 93% for successful intercourses with completion in the 50-mg dose in patients with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction (ED). In two different dose-ranging studies with 2-25 mg taken as needed, efficacy rates of up to 88% improvement in erections and up to 73% successful intercourses with completion were achieved. In a placebo-controlled, fixed-dose (10- and 20-mg) trial in diabetic patients, improved erections of 56% and 64% were reported compared with 25% after placebo."

Cialis, Drugstore.com:"Cialis is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor used to treat sexual function problems such as impotence or erectile dysfunction. In combination with sexual stimulation, Cialis works by helping the blood flow into the penis to achieve and maintain an erection. Cialis is not intended for use in women or children. Cialis will not protect against sexually transmitted diseases including HIV infection. Use "safe sex" practices such as latex condoms. Contact your doctor or pharmacist for more details about Cialis. Super Bowl ads give Cialis early edge, Forbes.com:"The new impotence treatment Cialis appears to have joined the New England Patriots and Janet Jackson's publicists as big winners of this year's Super Bowl. In the week following the big game, more patients coming into physicians' offices seeking treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED) asked for Cialis than Levitra, according to data collected by ImpactRx."

Tadalafil, Drug Class & Mechanism, medicinenet.com:"Tadalafil is an oral drug that is used to treat impotence (the inability to attain or maintain a penile erection.). It is a phosphodiesterase inhibitor that is similar to sildenafil (Viagra) and vardenafil (Levitra). Penile erection is caused by the engorgement of the penis with blood. This engorgement occurs when the blood vessels delivering blood to the penis increase in size and increase the delivery of blood to the penis. At the same time, the blood vessels carrying blood away from the penis decrease in size and decrease the removal of blood from the penis. Sexual stimulation that leads to the engorgement and erection causes the production and release of nitric oxide in the penis. Nitric oxide then activates the enzyme, guanylate cyclase to produce cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). The cGMP is primarily responsible for increasing and decreasing the size of the blood vessels carrying blood to and from the penis, respectively. Tadalafil prevents an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5 from destroying cGMP so that cGMP persists longer. The longer cGMP persists, the more prolonged the engorgement of the penis. Tadalafil was approved by the FDA in November, 2003."

Tadalafil (Systemic), Medline Plus:"Tadalafil (tah-DAL-a-fil ) is a medicine used to treat erectile dysfunction in men. Erectile dysfunction is a condition where the penis does not harden and expand when a man is sexually excited, or when he cannot keep an erection. When a man is sexually stimulated, his body's normal response is to increase blood flow to his penis. This results in an erection. Tadalafil helps increase blood flow to the penis and may help men with erectile dysfunction get and keep an erection satisfactory for sexual activity. Once a man has completed sexual activity, blood flow to his penis decreases, and his erection goes away. This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage forms:"

Cialis, Tadalafil, INDICATIONS AND USAGE, Rxlist.com:"CIALIS is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. The recommended starting dose of CIALIS in most patients is 10 mg, taken prior to anticipated sexual activity. The dose may be increased to 20 mg or decreased to 5 mg, based on individual efficacy and tolerability. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once per day in most patients. CIALIS was shown to improve erectile function compared to placebo up to 36 hours following dosing. Therefore, when advising patients on optimal use of CIALIS, this should be taken into consideration. CIALIS may be taken without regard to food."

FDA Approves Third Drug To Treat Erectile Dysfunction, US Food and Drug Administration:"The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today approved Cialis® (tadalafil), an oral medication to treat erectile dysfunction (ED, or impotence) in men. This is the third oral product approved for this condition. This drug is different than currently approved products for ED in that it stays in the body longer. Erectile dysfunction (ED) affects millions of men in the United States. Cialis acts by relaxing muscles in the penis and blood vessels, allowing increased blood flow into the penis, which produces an erection. Cialis was evaluated in randomized, placebo-controlled trials involving more than 4,000 men with erectile dysfunction. In two of these trials, men had ED associated with diabetes mellitus or following radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer."
