Would you recommend the field: Yes I would, the satisfaction of nursing outweigh the frustrations.
Employment changes in career: I've worked at the same hospital since graduation from nursing school.
Reason for the change: Prior to graduation, the last quarter of school, I worked at a local nursing home as a nurse tech. Now I know why the RN's and LPN's were reluctant to have me work under their license. I was passing meds, etc. It was a good experience for me. After graduation I was hired at the hospital.

Nursing School you attend if applicable: Peninsula Community College in Port Angeles, Wa, Associate Applied Science, RN.

Do you carry a personal malpractice insurance policy why or why not: No I do not, however I have been thinking about it.
Your most pressing concerns with the profession and healthcare: More and more sick patients are being admitted to the hospital, seem to go home before they are ready and are readmitted within hours to a couple days. I am concerned with downsizing and medicare and the proposed cuts, many in our area are on medicare.
What attracted you to the field of Nursing: I have wanted to be a nurse since I was a girl. It just took me awhile to reach my goals.

Favorite TV show and musical artists: X-Files, ER, musical artists are wide range from classic rock, Christian, Celtic, alternative!
Favorite food: Pasta, grilled chicken, double tall latte!
Qualities you admire in your friends & loved ones: Their loyalty, ability to have a good time,
Pet Peeves: Doctors that refuse to use the computer (where I work) to look up lab values, or vitals,or any other pertinent info about their patient, just because they don't want to take the time to do it, or still refuse to use the computer.

Hobbies and activities you enjoy outside of work: Reading romance and historical romance, spending time with my church youth group, spending time with my family.
Pets favorite vacation spots: Golden Lab: Jordee, Cat: kitty, camping in the Olympic Mountains, visiting my family in Northern Indiana and seeing Lake Michigan.
Other areas of interest and expertise: I have just recently gone through several years of dealing with the Wa Board of Nursing for an incident that happened 3 years ago. There was a positive outcome, thank God. I feel that I have some expertise in dealing with disciplinary actions.
