In what date (month/year) did you start your business?: 01/2000
What kind of nursing do you do?: In my nursing life, I have worked ER and have consulted to larger corporations regarding occupational health and most recently acted as project manager for long term accute care facilities as they were being designed and subsequently built.
How did you hear about the Nurse Entrepreneur Homesite?: http://www.google.com
How many years have you been practicing as a nurse: since 1989
What made you decide to start your own business?: I enjoy helping people. The longer I was in the medical field and the more consulting I did, I saw a great need in the area of financial control. Hospitals were broke, companies were broke and the devastation I saw from that led me to help individuals focus on their own financial game plan - Especially physicians and nurses - they made the most money and spent the most - A typical physician earning about 125k a year was spending 150k a year - not a good financial position - So my crusade became that of educator -Educator and coach - getting health care professionals to develop and maintain a financial life.
Employment changes in career?: 2
What specific qualities and traits do you feel make nurses especially qualified to operate a business? Detail oriented, excellent follow through skills, very concerned with customer service, loyalty to client, attitude of servitude.
Where do you work?: no
Your most pressing concerns with the profession and healthcare: Healthcare has certainly become big business. So many times in big business the social conscious aspect is lost. Healthcare professionals need to lead from the front on getting issues recognized and changed to benefit all. I am worried that all healthcare professionals are not taught to give back something to their community - something we all need to work harder at doing.
Other areas of interest and expertise: Success coaching

Should You Incorporate Your Registry Business? By Joseph Caracci, RN:"The short answer is yes! When starting a new nurse registry business, you are entering into a legal business environment that requires you to take steps to protect your personal assets, such as your home, your savings, and your retirement. With this in mind, you need to determine which legal form you are going to take for your new registry. Some of the common choices are a sole proprietorship, a partnership, a limited liability partnership (LLP), a limited liability company (LLC), and a corporation."
