(BSN):"The Department of Nursing offers an upper-division
baccalaureate program designed exclusively
for registered nurses. The program is accredited
by the National League for Nursing Accrediting
Commission*. The curriculum is planned to
maximize the strengths the registered nurse
brings to the baccalaureate program. The
program focuses upon the utilization of nursing
theory; the promotion, restoration and maintenance
of health for clients; the development of
critical thinking and decision-making skills;
and the development of leadership skills
appropriate to beginning professional practice.
The research process as it relates to nursing
is taught and utilized throughout the program.
Clinical experiences are provided at a variety
of healthcare settings under the direction

(BSN, MSN, PhD):"The School of Nursing has achieved a national
reputation for its innovative and pioneering
programs. The School is among a handful of
accredited schools to offer bachelor's, master's,
and doctoral programs. The programs are nationally
recognized for their innovative and comprehensive
curricula."
Saint Luke's College of Nursing:"The development of Saint Luke's College began
during the 1985-86 academic year when the
faculty of Saint Luke's Hospital School of
Nursing made an in-depth study of the issues
and challenges facing nursing education in
the twenty-first century. Students' and graduates'
reactions regarding the nationwide movement
of nursing toward baccalaureate education,
and the support of the Alumni Association
were instrumental in establishing a plan
for a program granting a Bachelor of Science
in Nursing degree. The first class of students
was admitted in fall of 1991 for baccalaureate
nursing education at Saint Luke's College.
In 1992, the final class graduated from the
diploma program with 3,047 students receiving
their nursing diploma from Saint Luke's Hospital
School of Nursing. As of 2004, twelve classes
have completed coursework resulting in 552
graduates from the degree program."
