Sacred Heart University Department of Nursing:"The Nursing program at Sacred Heart University commenced in 1980 with the opening of the RN to BSN program, designed to expand upon and enhance the nursing education completed by diploma and associate degree nurses. Two Master's degree programs soon followed to meet identified community needs for Patient Care Services Administrators and Family Nurse Practitioners. In 1993, the First Professional Degree program was initiated to prepare new nurses through a baccalaureate level program. The online version of the RN to BSN program was first offered in 1999 and by 2004, the entire MSN in Patient Care Services Administration will be available online as well as forty percent of the Family Nurse Practitioner curriculum."
