Nursing Camp, Borough of Manhattan Community College:"As part of an ongoing initiative to reduce the shortage of skilled nurses in New York State, Borough of Manhattan Community College is introducing a two-week nursing camp this summer for young people who may be interested in a nursing career.
Thirty seniors from New York City high schools have been selected to participate in the nursing camp. The students have expressed an interest in a nursing career. "We hope that at least 80 percent of the participants will declare a major in nursing or a health field when they enter college," explained BMCC President Antonio Pérez. He recently chaired the City University of New York Nursing Task Force, which issued recommendations for how CUNY could address the city's nursing shortage."

Nursing Camp for Teens, Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center:"Based on the overwhelming success of last summer's Nursing Camp for teens, Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center will be hosting two sessions of the popular camp this summer. The first session will be held from June 28 to July 2; a second session will be offered from July 26 to July 30. The camp is open to students who will be in the 8th or 9th grade as of September 2004. The focus of the camp is to learn about nursing as a career. Students will also receive CPR and basic first aid training as well as have the opportunity to tour the hospital and interact with a variety of healthcare professionals.
There is no cost to attend but registrations are limited. Applications can be obtained from the Nursing Office at the hospital."

Nursing Camp, Penn State's School of Nursing presents:"A career camp for kids interested in nursing. Ever wondered what it's like to be a nurse?
Penn State's Nursing Camp will offer you the opportunity to learn what it takes to be a nurse from actual Penn State nursing faculty. You'll also take field trips to health care and health and research facilities to observe nurses in action, and travel to clinical lab sessions to practice nursing duties such as first aid and CPR. Other activities will include watching videos, journaling, and working in the computer lab. You'll receive a scrub shirt, stethoscope, poster, video, and learning packet. At the last camp session you will receive a certificate, patch, and nursing pin. Lunch in campus dining halls and field trip transportation will be provided."
