I was a Certified Swedish Massage Practitioner and CertifiedKripalu Yoga Instructor during my 20’s after leaving behind my studies inseveral schools of fine art. After some years in the holistic health field, Ifound that I wanted to be able to impact people’s health from the “inside” ofthe system rather than just the “outside”.
I had three aunts who were nurses---one who was a personalnurse to General Patton during World War II---and their stories of nursing andits importance made an impression on me from a very early age.
I always perceived nursing as a humble and importantprofession, and joining the ranks of nurses seemed like a perfect “fit” for mevis-à-vis fulfilling my goal of bringing improved health to as many people aspossible over the course of my career. The holistic nursing model was a goodmatch with my previous training in holistic health, and my ongoing goal hasalways been to bring that holism back to the forefront of nursing practice.

I am in general always concerned about humanity and life. However, I was considering other fields until I discovered that nursing was a profession that required extensive knowledge and skill and that through this I would be able to be an advocate for quality healthcare.
