University of Vermont / School of Nursing (BSN, RN to BS to MS, MSN):"CNHS History UVM's Nursing and Health Sciences programs have a distinguished history. The programs have existed 60 and 52 years, respectively and together have more than 6,000 alumni. Until 2002 the programs were housed in the former Schools of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences. Those two small Schools were consolidated into a single academic unit, the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, for purposes of efficiency and mutual enrichment. We remain a relatively small unit with 452 undergraduate students, 115 graduate students, 45 faculty and 17 staff (fall 2004 data). Long known for excellence in teaching and advising, our programs have had a major impact on healthcare in the region and nation by educating generations of excellent clinicians. Our faculty members have always been actively engaged in professional service at national, regional and local levels, including direct clinical practice, and they are known for their outstanding service in the Faculty Senate and University committees."
